3 Ways to Increase Face Time in Online Contractor Marketing

contractor marketing

As a contractor, you understand the importance of every interaction with your clients or potential clients, and this remains true in contractor marketing.

Why is face time important in contractor marketing?

Unlike many other kinds of businesses, you are the face of your company in a more literal sense of the word. You and your team come face to face with your clients on jobs almost daily.

Your industry gives you a leverage in the face time aspect of marketing, but the question is, are you optimizing that leverage? And could you be doing more?

Consider, for example, the value that would come with increasing that face time with prospects before you’re even land them as a client.

If they hire you, you are going to be in their homes and around their families for an extended period of time. People need to know you are trustworthy, and spending time interacting with them will create that ease and trust that makes the best relationship between contractor and client.

How can you increase face time through online marketing?

When you think of face time, you’re likely not thinking of your online presence, but you don’t want to underestimate how important it is for prospects to see your face online. Your online presence communicates almost as much as an in-person conversation does!

Here are three ways you can increase face time via digital marketing:

1. Video Marketing

Again, you are the face of your company, and even something as simple as seeing you in a video on your website can create trust.

Video marketing does not have to be complicated. You could start with a simple introductory video or a couple informational videos that provide value to your prospects.

Your videos do NOT have to be award winning, so don’t panic! If you are on a budget, you can even create a decent video with a smart phone. Do some research (this guide is a good start) create some basic content, speak clearly, and you’re off to a good start.

The point is, they will see your face–the same face that may show up to remodel their home in a month or two.

2. Behind-the-Scenes Content

The purpose of increasing face time is to let your prospects a little further into your world, so they feel they are getting to know you. Personalization makes all the difference.

One way to keep things personal is using behind-the-scenes content on your social media. This can be as simple as pictures posted on your Facebook or Instagram or as complex as a high-quality video series following the progress of a project. It is really up to you.

HGTV is popular for a reason. People love to see a project unfold and celebrate the outcome. Take advantage of that! You do beautiful work. Show it off.

3. Online Networking

Maybe you haven’t considered online networking before, but it’s time to start. This is a simple way to establish yourself among other contractors and members of the home services industry.

There are endless facebook groups for contractors that are free to join and jam-packed with information, ideas, and support.

We don’t want to discredit traditional networking, since we are discussing face time. Groups like your local Home Builders Association, BNI, fairs, etc. are incredibly useful as well, and great for generating new clients. Your in-person efforts combined with your online efforts will produce great results!

As a contractor, YOU are your business. When you show your face, you are showing what your company is and what it stands for; and this speaks volumes to your clients and prospects, whether it is in a face-to-face conversation or a video online.
